About Us

My husband and I live on a small acreage, northeast of Raleigh. We relocated here from Oklahoma. My husband is a veterinarian and I take care of the farm and run a small family business from home. We raise Angora rabbits, sheep and Maremma dogs. We also have a menagerie of barnyard animals.

Four years ago I started the Master Spinner Program at Olds College in Olds, Alberta, Canada. One of only two ‘college sanctioned’ Master Spinner Programs in the world, the program has been training Master Spinners for close to 30 years. The program consist of 6 levels. The first five years are instructional and the last level is a testing level as well as a year to do the Master’s thesis. Most participants take 7-8 years to complete the program, while a few manage to finish sooner. I am now completing level 5 with hopes of finishing my thesis in the next year. I am also the coordinator of the Olds College Master Spinner Program in the United States.

My husband and I got into the sheep and rabbit business to furnish the fiber needed for my homework. As I got deeper into the homework and gained more experience with different sheep breeds, I discovered a real love for spinning Bluefaced Leicester and Angora fiber. We found the Bluefaced to be gentle and calm in nature compared to other breeds and easier for me to handle by myself when necessary.

Our plan is to maintain a rabbitry of 15-20 Angoras and a small flock of both white and colored Bluefaced Leicester and a few Bluefaced/Rambouillet cross lambs.
